The Department of Radiation Oncology is adding proton therapy as a patient treatment option, with an estimated start date of January 2028. The department will be installing a Mevion FIT, a single-vault machine that can fit in an existing photon vault. The unique technology treats patients in a seated position, with a diagnostic CT scanner imaging the patient vertically for both simulation and daily alignment.
