Associate Professor

Dr. Heather Neuman is an Associate Professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology and section head of Breast and Cutaneous Oncology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, WI.  She completed her general surgery residency at the University of North Carolina, and a surgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.  She also completed a master’s degree in Health Services Research from Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Science.

She is a practicing surgical oncologist who focuses primarily on caring for patients with breast cancer, sarcoma, and cutaneous malignancies.

Her research program focuses on generating evidence to accelerate the implementation of cancer research into practice.  She has had funding from AHRQ as well as the National Cancer Institute.  Her research focuses on patient-oriented clinical outcomes including patient decision-making, quality of life and survivorship.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Abstract submission for the 2024 Nathan A. Womack Surgical Society Research Day scheduled to take place on Friday, May 3rd, 2024 at the Roper Hall is now OPEN.

Previously presented abstracts/posters are acceptable, updated to current Department of Surgery and/or School of Medicine logo standards.  Mandatory attendance is asked of all Residents, and their participation with abstract submission is strongly encouraged.  Submissions from Fellows and medical students are also encouraged and welcomed.

Abstracts must be less than 3000 characters including spaces. All visual submissions and presentations must adhere to current Department of Surgery and School of Medicine logos. (See here and here for templates and information).   Top-ranked abstract submissions will be selected for oral presentations. Applicants selected for oral presentations will be informed by April 5th, 2024. Prizes will be awarded for the top oral and poster (basic science and clinical) presentations.

All abstracts must be submitted electronically. The deadline for submission is Sunday, March 31st by 11:59 pm. Late submissions will not be accepted.
