A brand is strengthened by consistent messaging, tone and graphical approach in all communications.

The Marketing & Communications team is responsible for elevating and promoting our brand; however, every member of our community – faculty, staff, students, researchers, trainees and alumni – contributes to shaping and upholding our collective story.

The UNC School of Medicine is a school within The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Its faculty are engaged in teaching and research, and provide clinical care as part of the academic medical center at UNC Hospitals (part of UNC Health). The School of Medicine follows the University of North Carolina’s Branding and Visual Identity guidelines.

We have outlined the following guidance to assist in determining the appropriate brand to implement on communications, collateral, signage, etc.

The UNC School of Medicine brand is used to represent and communicate about research and education initiatives. The UNC Health or UNC Hospitals’ brand should be used for clinical or patient care purposes and when an event or program is associated with both entities. Clinical and patient care purposes include any service for which a patient is ultimately billed.

If you have a question about using the UNC Health logo, please refer to the Brand Central page. Access to this site is restricted to employees of UNCHCS and vendors and partners on an official master services agreement.

Posted below are the primary logos for the UNC School of Medicine. These logos may be used for a variety of basic needs, including posters, reports and email signatures. In most cases, the UNC School of Medicine master brand is used with the name of the unit or program expressed prominently in typeface elsewhere in the design. No new logos should be created by any department or program. A department, division or office should contact UNC Creative to request an official logo (if it qualifies). Departments are not permitted to use these official logos without such permission.
