Dr. Saira SheikhThe 3+ year grant is funded by the Human Services Office Minority Health (OMH).

One of the program’s key goals is to increase the engagement and education of rheumatologists, nephrologists, dermatologists, and additionally community health workers to advance the representation of racially and ethnically diverse participants in lupus clinical trials, building upon the momentum that was achieved during the initial two years of the program.

Saira Sheikh, MD, is the Linda Coley Sewell Distinguished Professor of Medicine at UNC Chapel Hill, the Director of Clinical Trials at the UNC Thurston Arthritis Research Center, Director of the UNC Rheumatology Lupus Clinic, and co-leader of the TIMELY program.
