A UNC-One Card - please get this as soon as possible following your arrival

This is your campus I.D. It lets you open an e-mail account, use the library, obtain discounts at Student Stores, buy tickets to sporting events, etc.
  • You will need proof that you are a registered student.
  • You will need to go to the UNC-One Card Office in the basement of Student Stores, on the main campus (phone: 962-1385).

Photo ID/Building Access Card

This is a School of Medicine photo id and swipe card for the electronic lock into our facility (Genetic Medicine Building) during restricted hours. It can also be configured to let you into other buildings on an as-needed basis (e.g., the Lineberger Cancer Center).  Please contact Amanda Chang (3017 Genetic Medicine, tel# 962-1058) for the access form and instructions.

An E-mail account (a UNC-One Card is required to create your email)

  • Visit the Information Technology website
  • Request a School of Medicine (SOM) LDAP email account and follow the instructions.  For clarity, use your full name when possible in the following format:  Firstname_Lastname@med.unc.edu

***IMPORTANT: Give your email I.D. to Brenda Brock ASAP since this will be how we communicate with you.***
