Raleigh-Durham Regional Airport (RDU)

MSTAR students flying into the area arrive at RDU (Raleigh-Durham Regional Airport). Located in North Raleigh, the airport is about 20 miles or about a 30-minute drive from Chapel Hill. This airport is a user-friendly regional airport with two terminals. Terminal 1 serves Avelo, Southwest and Spirit airlines. Terminal 2 serves Alaska, Air Canada, American Airlines, American Eagle, Bahamas Air, Breeze, Delta, Frontier, Icelandair, Jet Blue, Sun Country, and United.

Taxis

RDU Taxis take riders to UNC and points around Chapel Hill. The average taxi fare may cost approximately $65.00 one way. Call (919) 840-7277 or make a reservation at RDUTaxiinc.com.

Bus

Triangle Transit Buses stop at UNC Hospital and may only cost you $2.00-$2.50. The hospital area is also where you can catch most Chapel Hill Transit Buses.

  • RDU to Chapel Hill: Triangle Transit Bus 100 then transfer to either Bus 800 or Bus 801
  • Chapel Hill to RDU: Triangle Transit Bus 800 or Bus 801 then transfer to Bus 100

Ride Share

Uber and Lyft also serve the airport.
