Dr. Prakash has a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from Jamia Millia Islamia, a M.Sc genomics from Madurai Kamaraj University, and a Ph.D. in Structural Biology from Nanyang Technological University Singapore where he was also a research assistant. He was a research associate in the Department of Pathology at the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, United Kingdom. Currently, Ajit is a postdoctoral research associate here at UNC in the Campbell Lab and serves as the Postdoc Committee Chair. The Campbell Lab’s research applies multidisciplinary structural (X-ray, NMR, computational), biophysical, biochemical and cell biology approaches to investigate the RAS oncoprotein, RAS superfamily and heterotrimeric GTPases, as well as the cell adhesion proteins, vinculin and metavinculin. Aberrant regulation of these molecules is linked to a variety of disease states, including cancer, cardiovascular and neurological disorders.
