Karl earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from NC State University and his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. His graduate research was supervised by Dr. Matthew Lazzara, where he studied the regulation of epithelial-mesenchymal transition by the tumor microenvironment in pancreatic cancer. Karl joined the Tamir and Yates labs as a postdoc in the Fall of 2025 to gain proteomics expertise and leverage computational analyses to understand cancer biology.
