SPT Labtech, Cryo-EM, Chameleon scientific presentation

March 3, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

3-1-2022 Hi everyone,

I want to send a reminder that I will be hosting Michele Darrow from SPT Labtech this Thursday for a scientific seminar and various discussion panels. SPT is the commercial developer of the Chameleon system, which aims to fundamentally change how we make cryoEM samples.

Below is a schedule of events open to everyone. Michele’s seminar will be a scientific presentation on cryoEM sample preparation. She currently has a joint appointment with the Rosaland Franklin Institute and gives a top-notch presentation. She will also be available for a career discussion panel for trainees who are interested in industry careers, followed by a time for any cryoEM users to discuss technical issues or ask questions about the Chameleon.

10-11   Scientific Seminar (Bioinformatics 1131)

1 – 2     Career Development, Academia, and Industry Panel (GMB 2007)

2 – 3     Technical Discussion (GMB 2007)

I hope to see many of you there! Email me if you have any questions.

Please forward to other labs, departments, etc. Everyone is welcome!

Take care,

Hi everyone,

I would like to invite you all to come to a scientific presentation from SPT Labtech on their development of novel sample prep methods for cryoEM. They will be on campus on Thursday, March 3rd and I will be hosting a seminar from 10-11 in Bioinformatics 1131. There will also be coffee, donuts, and bagels served from 9:30-10 before the seminar for folks to interact and chat.
As many of you know, SPT Labtech is the commercial partner of the Spotiton technology from the New York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC), which is now being developed under the Chameleon brand name. This system is a state-of-the-art technology that is a blot-free alternative to traditional sample prep methods and shows great promise to fight the daunting air-water interface problem. The seminar will focus on their efforts to modernize cryoEM sample techniques, which still mainly rely on decades-old methods.
The SPT team will also be available for 1-on-1 meetings, so if you are interested in meeting with them, please contact me or Tim Booth (tim.booth@sptlabtech.com).
Please feel free to forward this invitation to anyone in the area who might be interested. I hope to see you all there on Thursday, March 3rd!
Take care,
