Yohei Hisada, Ph.D. was awarded an R56 from the NIH NHLBI in the amount of $764,817 for a one-year project titled “Mechanisms of Coagulopathy and Bleeding in Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia.”
The award will fund studies to evaluate the hemorrhagic phenotype associated with hyperfibrinolysis in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), as well as the global changes in the hemostatic transcriptome and proteome using platelets and plasma from human and mouse APL models.
Several co-investigators contributing to the project include Matt Flick, PhD, and Wolfgang Bergmeier, PhD, from UNC Chapel Hill; Radhika Gangaraju, MD, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham; and Anandi Krishnan, PhD, from Rutgers University.
