The incident took place while Dr. Mehrotra was walking his dog in his neighborhood just prior to leaving for his ER shift at UNC.
Later in the day, Dr. Mehrotra also cared for a firefighter who was injured in extinguishing the same fire.
We commend Dr. Mehrotra for his quick thinking and willingness to help others, which exemplify the spirit of the UNC Emergency Medicine team.
“It’s part of being a good citizen and looking out for our neighbors, and that’s what we do,” said Dr. Mehrotra.
