Health in All Communities

Studies have shown that a variety of factors affect the health of individuals and the communities in which they live:

  • Poverty
  • Education
  • Unemployment and job insecurity
  • Working life conditions
  • Food insecurity
  • Housing and the Environment
  • Early childhood development
  • Access to quality/affordable health services

Poorer health outcomes are associated with key factors such as inadequate access to health care, poverty, educational inequalities, behavioral factors, and environmental exposures. Our department strives to promote health access for everyone and support advances in research, teaching, patient care, and workforce development that will positively impact the health of all people we serve.

 

Private Donor Fund
The Department has established a private-donor fund that can be used for a variety of community outreach programs, with the goal of improving health outcomes for all people. If you feel so moved, you may give easily and securely to these efforts. Contact familymedicine@med.unc.edu for more info.
