Type I (SOM Public Spaces)

Type I School of Medicine spaces are designated by the Planning Office and School of Medicine IT. They are categorized as available to schedule by all School of Medicine faculty, staff, and students.

  • Regular updates to technology and refresh of equipment.
  • Room computer management by SOM IT Managed Desktop Services.
  • Regularly scheduled maintenance.
  • Remote monitoring of systems
  • A high level of support based on their standardized technology components and remote access controls.
  • Prioritized for remote support.
  • Prioritized for incident response.
  • Room orientations and training are available to be scheduled.

Type II (Departmental Standard SOM Build)

Type II spaces are generally managed by SOM departments, centers, and individuals (office space). They utilize standardized equipment approved by School of Medicine IT. Equipment needs to be 5 years or newer to be covered as Type II.

  • If possible, remote support and updates.
  • Scheduled onsite Tier I assessment and will solve “easy” fixes during scheduled onsite visits.
  • If the proposed corrective action is approved by the group’s finance and leadership teams, School of Medicine IT will serve as the liaison to the vendor.
  • Project support for standard 5-year upgrades as available.

Type III (Non-Standard)

Type III spaces are generally managed by SOM departments, centers, and individuals (office space), but have non-standard technology and design, equipment over 5 years old, or have not been approved as Type II by School of Medicine IT.

  • Scheduled onsite Tier I assessment and quick fix, if possible. No longer than 15 minutes of standard troubleshooting
  • Consultation, referral to approved vendors. Project support to bring to School of Medicine IT standard technology as available.
  • If the proposed corrective action is approved by the group’s finance and leadership teams, School of Medicine IT will serve as the liaison to the vendor.
