Black and Latinx patients who used an inhaled glucocorticoid as needed along with usual care had improved asthma outcomes, according to results from a PREPARE, PeRson EmPowered Asthma RElief, trial. Michelle Hernandez, MD, Professor of Pediatrics, was the UNC School of Medicine principal investigator and worked with the study lead, Elliot Israel, MD, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, to design the trial.
