Yu Mikami, MD, PhD, and Takanori Asakura, MD, PhD, received the Respiratory Research Award at the Tokyo Respiratory Research Conference. The Research Award was a competition among 13 medical schools in Tokyo. The judges, who were directors or professors of respiratory medicine from each university, were reportedly surprised to find that Drs. Mikami and Asakura are both from UNC.
