Spirovation is a non-profit translational CRO affiliated with the Marsico Lung Institute at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, combining world-class academic scientific leadership with the operational capabilities of a contract research organization. We accelerate drug development in respiratory medicine, providing an efficient integration of academic expertise and industry business objectives.

The Marsico Lung Institute offers infrastructure with modern inter-disciplinary research units. Researchers assemble integrated project teams that dynamically respond to new knowledge, allowing early, iterative risk reduction through:

  • Target ID & Validation
    • Innovative animal models and in vitro models utilizing patient-derived materials
    • Expertise in pathobiology of disease, enabling a pathway-based approach to target ID/ validation
  • Biomarker identification/validation
    • Resources, including the Sputum Core, for development of novel biomarkers for pulmonary drug development
  • Early clinical trial design
    • PK, target engagement, initial clinical benefit/ risk

Commitment to Customers

  • Alignment of goals, incentives, processes and working practices
  • Fast and easy contracting
  • Integrated project management across labs
  • High quality deliverables
  • Cost effective

Scientific Leadership

  • State-of-the-art research models, many unique
  • Unrivaled expertise and resources in respiratory medicine
  • Full cascade of mechanistic and functional studies from early screening through Phase IIa clinical trials, as well as Phase IV studies
  • Publication record impacting respiratory science
