Visiting Student Program

The University of North Carolina School of Medicine’s Visiting Student Program offers students in their final year of medical school the opportunity to participate in educational, engaging and challenging clinical elective experiences. We offer rotations with affiliated clinical sites and hospitals throughout North Carolina in cities such as Asheville, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, and Wilmington that represent a variety of different healthcare systems.

Coronavirus/COVID-19 Updates as of August 5, 2021

Starting September 21, 2021, All visiting medical students attending UNC School of Medicine for clinical rotations, regardless of Campus/Health System Assignment, will be required to submit documentation of having obtained a COVID-19 vaccine. International-based students will need to submit documentation of having obtained one of the WHO-approved vaccines.

Our institution will follow the Coalition for Physician Accountability recommendations regarding away rotations for the 2021-22 academic year.  As such, UNC is accepting applications for in-person rotations. Both VSLO and the International Application Portal are now open.  See the Quick Links section!
