Support for commercial development of university technology and intellectual property

The SOM works with a variety of industry organizations to support innovation and translation. Judith Cone, the Vice Chancellor for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development, leads efforts at the campus level to strengthen a university-wide culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

There are a wide array of resources available to faculty who are interested in commercializing Intellectual Property and developing Start-up companies around the translation of the research in their lab. For more information please see the Innovate Carolina website. The Office of Commercialization and Economic Development supports faculty with the evaluation, patenting and licensing of intellectual property.
