Transfusion Medicine

The Division of Transfusion Medicine provides outstanding, patient-centered diagnostic and clinical services across all subspecialty areas in blood banking, immunohematology, apheresis, cellular therapy, and blood donation. Our faculty offer deep expertise each of these subspecialty areas and work closely with clinical colleagues as integral members of multidisciplinary care teams. 

Education is a core component of our mission. In addition to supporting resident and medical student education, we offer an accredited 1 year fellowship in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. Our trainees benefit from a broad and diverse case mix, hands-on learning opportunities, mentorship from nationally recognized faculty, and close collaboration with the research enterprise of our department.
