Complete Blood Count
CBC Submission Guidelines
Complete Blood Counts include: RBC parameters, Platelet parameters, and WBC parameters with differential count. Samples are analyzed on an IDEXX Procyte Dx Hematology Analyzer. For best results, please follow these guidelines:
Sample Collection
At least 40 uL of whole unclotted blood should be in purple top EDTA anticoagulant tube (Please use tubes that are appropriately sized to your volume to avoid EDTA-related artifacts!). A greater volume is preferred in case of required re-runs.
Sample Storage
Samples may be stored at room temperature
Samples may be stored at 4°C
Do NOT store samples on ice
Do NOT store samples in the freezer
Timing of Submission
Samples are accepted by the core and run on the Analyzer for CBCs Mondays through Thursdays. Samples MUST be analyzed with 24 hours of the blood draw. Please plan your experimental blood draws to ensure samples are analyzed in the appropriate timeframe.
