The Preclinical Research Unit (PRU) maintains a new (2019) IVIS Lumina III Series optical imager within our immune-compromised mouse barrier suite. This system is only for use with studies under the direct care of the PRU to avoid any chance of pathogen transfer from immune-competent mice.

  • 2D optical imaging (bioluminescence and fluorescence)
  • Images up to 5 mice simultaneously
  • Heated sample stage to maintain homeostasis
  • Utilizes isoflurane anesthesia for quick recovery
  • Imaging cost is $99.00 per hour, charged in half hour increments

Other Imagers

The Biomedical Research Imaging Center (BRIC) maintains multiple optical imagers on campus as part of the Small Animal Imaging Facility (SAI). The SAI maintains an IVIS-Lumina, IVIS-Kinetic and an Ami Imager.

Imaging Information

PRU technicians can assist with your imaging needs on any available optical imagerWe are acutely aware of all transport and use guidelines for use of all imagers on campus. We have completed all required training and have many years’ experience utilizing IVIS systems

Luciferin is essential for performing bioluminescent imaging. The PRU purchases XenoLight D-Luciferin – K+ Salt Substrate from Perkin Elmer for use in imaging studies. We can provide prepared luciferin to your group or use it for your studies. There is a per ml fee charged for all luciferin utilized. We can also assist with bioluminescent studies requiring NanoLuc luciferase and fluorescent imaging when requested.
