Tissue Culture Core Leader
Dr. Randell is the Leader of the Tissue Culture Core. He also directs the UNC Cystic Fibrosis/Pulmonary Research and Treatment Center Tissue Procurement Core, which has been under his leadership since 2001. This Core provides primary and passaged human airway and alveolar epithelial cells, lung microvascular endothelial cells, media and expertise to UNC CF Center investigators and collaborators. This facility is a nationally and internationally recognized resource whose services are sought for collaboration, contract research, and training by academics, non-profit organizations, biotech and the pharmaceutical industry. For the UNC Center for Tobacco Regulatory Science and Lung Health, Dr. Randell’s Core will harvest and culture human bronchial epithelial cells under air liquid interface conditions and will expose them to various tobacco products under well controlled conditions.
