Leader of Project IV &Ilona Jaspers Co-Leader of the Training Core

Ilona Jaspers, Ph.D., is a Professor in the UNC Department of Pediatrics, the Director of the Curriculum in Toxicology and the Deputy Director of the UNC Center for Environmental Medicine Asthma and Lung Biology. Using translational research models, her studies focus on the mechanisms by which inhaled pollutants affect respiratory immune responses. In the Center for Tobacco Regulatory Science and Lung Health, she serves as the leader for Project IV and co-leader for the Training Core. Project IV explores the effects of tobacco products on mucosal immune responses to influenza virus. With the Training Core, Dr. Jaspers is helping train students and post-docs to become familiar with regulatory science related to the effects if new and emerging tobacco products on human health.
