In this role she will continue expanding UNC AOE’s innovative programs to educators across the state.


Christina Shenvi, MD, PhD, MBA, is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and was recently selected as the next president of the UNC Academy of Educators. Dr. Shenvi has a passion for innovative pedagogy, change management, and faculty development. She currently co-directs the Case-Based Learning program in the UNC School of Medicine.

For more than a decade, Dr. Shenvi has been an active participant in the AOE, and has been on the leadership council since its creation five years ago.

As part of the AOE, she co-created and co-directs the FLAGship faculty development program. This dynamic, year-long program provides professional development and training in educational leadership, scholarship, and effective teaching.

The AOE has grown in membership, number and type of offerings, and in its reach across the state in the last five years. Dr. Shenvi is looking forward to partnering with educators in Chapel Hill and across the state to help create a vibrant community of educators. She hopes to continue the AOE’s work of elevating the quality of teaching and the value of educators at UNC, and fostering an environment of inquiry and discovery.
