Beltran awarded a Faculty Research Support Grant from the Department of Genetics

Adriana Beltran, PhD, Associate Professor of Genetics and Director of the Human Pluripotent Stem Cell Core, was awarded a Faculty Research Support Grant, formerly known as a PIVOT award, for $20,000 from the Department of Genetics, which was evenly matched by both the School of Medicine Office of Research, and the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) for a total of $60,000.

Katie Hoadley, PhD Awarded New Grant as Part of Susan G. Komen Metastatic Breast Cancer Collaborative Research Initiative

Thanks to a $500,000 lead gift by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC), the Susan G. Komen and Blue Cross NC Metastatic Breast Cancer Disparities Collaborative Research Grant was awarded to a research team led by Jennifer Freedman, PhD, and Steven Patierno, PhD, of Duke Cancer Institute, and Katie Hoadley, PhD, of UNC Lineberger, who were awarded the grant to investigate how the ancestry of different populations impacts the immune response to metastatic breast cancer.
