The UNC Department of Medicine has received an “Award of Excellence” and “Best of Category” for the Chair’s Corner podcast series Pieces of the Picture, highlighting the rise in autoimmune disease. The series was sound engineered by Robb Kehoe of the Instructional Media Services (IMS) team in Academic Technology Services and created/produced by Kristen Hendrickson of the Department of Medicine (DOM). The IMS team has been and continues co-producing the Chair’s Corner with DOM since its inception three years ago.

The first School of Medicine IT Support Hub opened for business in mid-April, serving clients in the Physician’s Office Building, Family Medicine, and Radiation Oncology areas.

The School of Medicine network will have a partial outage on Saturday, May 19th from 7 a.m. to 12 noon impacting several campus buildings. Services affected in those buildings include desk phones, internet, EPIC, network file shares and printing. Read more for buildings affected by this maintenance.

Apple has announced a significant security vulnerability in the latest Mac operating system, High Sierra. Recently the new Apple Macintosh operating system (High Sierra) was released in the Apple App Store. If you have an Apple computer it is likely that you have seen a prompt to download and install this update. PLEASE DO NOT install the update at this time. This update will cause problems with Microsoft Office and the UNC wireless eduroam enrollment process.

Beginning on Monday, September 18, 2-Step Verification will be required to utilize the UNC School of Medicine Campus VPN to access resources from off-campus locations. The Cisco VPN Client is typically used when off campus to access shared network resources such as the J: drive, and on-campus printers, as well as connecting to your office desktop using the Remote Desktop Connection.
