The UNC Neurobiology Curriculum presented its annual Pierre Morell Research Day 2013 on Thursday May 16, 2013. We were delighted to host Dr. Paul Forscher, PhD as this year’s guest speaker. Dr. Forscher isa Professor of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at Yale University, as well as an alum of UNC-Chapel Hill’ s Neurobiology Curriculum. A schedule for the events that took place is listed below: 12:00pm -1:30pm: 2nd floor MBRB; Catered lunch from Vimala’s Curryblossom Cafe/Networking for current students, alumni and faculty 1:30pm-3:30pm: Genetics lobby; Poster Session 4:00pm-6:00pm: MBRB ground floor; Talks Introduction by Dr. Gerry Oxford Dan Bonder, PhD student, “Examining the Role of Astrocytic Gq-GPCR and Ca2+ Signaling in Functional Hyperemia in Vivo” Amelia Bachleda, PhD student, “Sox2 Maintains Muller Glial Morphology and Retinal Function” Dr. Forscher’s talk is: “Treadmilling Actin Filament Arrays and Axon Growth” 6:30pm – 9:00pm: Reception at TRU deli- (114 Henderson St., Chapel Hill)
