Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness that damages the eye’s optic nerve. Those at risk include individuals over the age of 40, those who have a family member with glaucoma, and people of African American, Hispanic, or Asian heritage. Nearly three million people in the U.S. have glaucoma. UNC Ophthalmology has a team of board-certified ophthalmologists who diagnose and treat glaucoma. Our dynamic research team is exploring novel approaches to treating and eradicating glaucoma. For an eye appointment to screen for Glaucoma at UNC Ophthalmology, call 984-974-2020.
