Heading west will get you hiking among waterfalls in the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains in only 3 hours.
Chapel Hill also houses an excellent food scene with several local breweries, weekend farmer’s markets, and up and coming new restaurants. Whether you enjoy Southern BBQ, casual dinners, or gourmet cuisine, the triangle area has lots to offer.
If the performing arts are more for you, the Durham Performing Arts Center offers a regular rotation of live performances for audiences of all ages. UNC athletics provides sports fans with plenty to root for with multiple nationally recognized teams. With three universities in the area and multiple semi-professional and professional sports teams, including the Carolina Hurricanes, Carolina Courage, and Durham Bulls, you will have no trouble finding a team to cheer on, regardless of the season.
With its many beautiful parks, gardens, museums, and libraries, Chapel Hill is an excellent place for families with plenty to do. Education is greatly valued here and Chapel Hill is nationally recognized for its outstanding public schools. A priority is placed on the development of Chapel Hill’s youth with ample funding for youth programs through the parks and recreation department.
