Dr. Gantz is an assistant professor at the University of Iowa doing cutting edge research on a very under explored group of ion channels in the brain the GluD receptors. These receptors are not technically glutamate receptors but were named as such based on homology. Intriguingly, these receptors promote a tonic excitatory current in neurons. Stephanie is at the forefront of researchers examining these receptors and their role in signaling in neural systems. Here are three papers Stephanie published on GluDRs.
