We invite you to attend the Women in Non-academic Science Careers Panel brought to you by “From Lab to Life” at UNC Pharmacology.

The event is on Wednesday, March 17th at 10am ET.

The panelists attending are:

Robin Arnette, PhD (Science writer and editor in the Office of Communications and Public Liaison at the NIEHS)

Robin Arnette, PhD

Robin received a PhD in biology with special emphasis on biochemical and molecular parasitology from The University of Toledo. She then studied cell-cycle checkpoint proteins as a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Nobel Laureate Aziz Sancar, MD, PhD. She received a first place Blue Pencil and Gold Screen Award for her work from the National Association of Government Communicators in 2017 and 2018.

 

Nicole Baker, PhD, RAC (Manager in the Regulatory Affairs Department at Precision BioSciences, Inc.)

Nicole Baker, PhD, RAC

Nicole received her PhD from the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Pharmacology in December 2016. She completed her thesis work in the laboratory of Dr. Channing J. Der. Nicole founded the UNC Science Writing and Communication club to provide graduate students and postdocs with exposure to careers in science communication.

 

 

Irem Dagliyan, PharmD, MSc, PhD (Scientist at Skyhawk Therapeutics)

Irem Dagliyan, PharmD, MSc, PhD

Irem received her PharmD and MSc degrees from Yeditepe University in Istanbul where she worked on small molecule synthesis and characterization. Irem then moved to NC and worked as a research scholar in the Sancar Lab focusing on the molecular regulation of mammalian circadian clock. She then pursued her PhD in the Der Lab at UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Pharmacology. At her current position at Skyhawk Therapeutics, she focuses on pre-clinical drug discovery and development in cancer.

 

Kate Lansu, PhD (Senior Scientist at Eli Lilly and Company)

Kate Lansu, PhD

Kate received her doctorate in Pharmacology from UNC-Chapel Hill under Dr. Bryan Roth. After a short academic post-doc, she moved to Oxford, England to initiate the GPCR Pharmacology group at an AI-driven biotech company. Currently, Kate works to uncover new medicines and their mechanisms of action at Eli Lilly.
