About Dr. Curiel Garcia
Dr. Curiel is originally from Spain where he received his double degree in biological and biochemistry sciences from the University of Navarra. Dr. Curiel got his PhD with honors in 2019 working in the generation of mouse models using genome editing tools for brain tumors at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre. He joined Columbia University also in 2019 under the mentorship of Dr. Kenneth Olive, in co-mentorship with Dr. Andrea Califano. His work is focused on pancreatic cancer research and systems biology tools for which Dr. Curiel has received several awards including the Revson Foundation Senior Postdoctoral Fellowship, the Columbia Postdoctoral Pilot Award and the Columbia career development award.
The Rising Star Program is a professional development training program to help postdocs prepare and become more competitive for faculty job interviews at institutions like UNC.
