About the Initiative
The Precision Health Genetic Screen (PHGS) is a genetic screening test for healthy adults in the UNC Health System. The goal is to identify the 1-3% of the population that has a high risk of treatable disease and improve patient outcomes. The PHGS includes genetic testing for 11 genes linked to Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer syndrome, Lynch syndrome, and Familial Hypercholesterolemia. The genes on the PHGS were selected because we have lots of information on the conditions they can cause. We also have treatment options for individuals that have changes in these genes.
