February 2022, ACCESS Mental Health has hosted a total of 16 monthly discussion groups led by ACCESS Mental Health Psychiatry residents and faculty around various issues pertinent to achieving mental healthcare access for all people.

This series is designed to foster meaningful dialogue and shared learning around the multifaceted experiences of mental healthcare. By bringing together voices from across clinical, community, and lived experience perspectives, we aim to illuminate the challenges, innovations, and human stories that shape mental health support. Each session invites participants to reflect, connect, and grow in their understanding of how care is accessed, delivered, and experienced—especially across various identities, settings, and systems. Through this collective exploration, we seek to promote more compassionate, informed, and responsive approaches to mental wellbeing.

Below are example of topics covered:

  • Body size bias
  • Carceral system and mental healthcare access
  • Child welfare system and mental healthcare
  • Intersection of mental health and disability
