Associate Dean for Administration, UNC School of Medicine

Karlina Matthews, MBA, is the Associate Dean for Administration at the UNC School of Medicine. She has been with the School of Medicine since 2002 and currently oversees all administrative practices as well as the Offices of Human Resources, Information Technology, Space Planning, and Professional Service Contracts and Affiliations. She works closely with leaders across UNC-Chapel Hill, the UNC Medical Center, and UNC Health to accomplish organizational goals and support employees.

She has twice received the Judy Mann Award, an annual departmental award that celebrates extraordinary, creative, and tireless service, and in 2022 was awarded the Outstanding Encouragement of Learning and Development Award from UNC-Chapel Hill’s Office of Human Resources.

Matthews is an active leader, both within the School of Medicine and across campus. She has served on the UNC Faculty Physicians Compensation Committee, the Faculty Physicians Associate Chairs for Administration Executive Committee, and the UNC SOM Administration Advisory Committee. In addition, she has served as Treasurer of the UNC Employee Forum and served on the group’s Executive Committee.
