Population Health for Clinicians MPH Concentration

Overview

The Population Health for Clinicians (PHC) MPH concentration is designed for medical students, residents/fellows and other clinicians seeking additional public health training to maximize their potential to contribute to improving the health of the populations they serve. The concentration builds on a long-standing collaboration between the UNC schools of medicine and public health to offer a high-quality, accelerated MPH curriculum featuring a unique interdisciplinary focus on clinical, prevention, population, and policy sciences. This concentration is available only in a full-time, residential format.

The PHC concentration is a 42-credit program that is structured to be completed in 12 months. Students apply during their third year of medical school, since concentration required courses were designed assuming students have completed foundational medical school coursework. In practical terms, most students apply in the Fall of their third year of medical school. Students must complete a separate application for the MPH program and admission is not guaranteed.
