Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), UNC Health

Scott A. Doak has served as Chief Human Resources Officer for UNC Health since September 2019, serving 40,000+ employees of the UNC Health System.

In this role he has led an organizational transformation that shifted several transactional and disparate Human Resources organizations, functions and platforms into one high functioning Human Resources Shared Services organization. Scott modernized and enhanced the System Compensation Program, developed and deployed a Leadership Architecture that supports UNC Health’s new Operating Model, launched a Human Resources Service Center, deployed a Business Partner Model and strengthened and enhanced system-wide Wellness and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs.

Immediately prior, Scott was the System Vice President, Human Resources for UNC Health from May 2017 to September 2019. Scott came to UNC Health from the Cleveland Clinic where he served for a total of 5 years, his last two as Executive Leader of Human Resources Shared Services and he spent 3 years as the Executive Director of Talent at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. Additionally, Scott served in the US Army as a Combat Signaler and Paratrooper and was stationed in both Fort Bragg, NC and Yongsan Garrison, Republic of Korea. Scott earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from University of Houston and an MBA from TWU in Houston, Texas.

Scott and his wife, Jean, live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with their two children.
