Dr. Brice is Chair of the UNC Department of Emergency Medicine, a widely published researcher, and a renowned clinician and thought leader in her field.


As an accomplished investigator, she has held multiple federal research grants, with a focus on the care of patients in the out-of-hospital environment provided by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel.

Prehospital Emergency Care is the leading journal for the care of patients in the out-of-hospital environment and is the journal for the National Association of EMS Physicians.

The mission of the journal is to foster and disseminate EMS literature of the highest quality. Dr. Brice assumed the Editor-in-Chief role on October 1, 2023 and is thrilled to continue the work of previous Editors in Chief, Dr. James Menegazzi and Dr. David Cone.

Dr. Brice holds adjunct appointments in the UNC Departments of Epidemiology and Social Medicine.

She has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career, and has held leadership positions in a variety of professional organizations as well as at UNC.
