Why Otolaryngology?

Since my father is an otolaryngologist, ENT has always been on my radar. I knew during medical school that I wanted to enter a surgical specialty. What drew me into ENT was the diversity of patients you are able to work with in addition to the wide variety of surgical procedures and techniques that can be performed in the head and neck.

Why UNC?

One of the main reasons I chose UNC was the residents. It was evident during my away rotation that they had great surgical, clinical and bedside skills-thus I knew UNC had an excellent training program. In addition, the residents I worked with seemed genuinely close-knit and like they had a lot of fun together. They really made me feel like I was a part of the ENT family at UNC during my away rotation.

I also love the Chapel-Hill/Durham area and am looking forward to being able to continue my passion for outdoor activities in an area that is so close to so many great attractions including the beach and mountains.

Fun Fact: I got a free T-shirt in an Alaska diner for eating a 4-pound burger while in high school.
