School of Medicine IT Portfolio Management ensures that resources are optimized to deliver the highest priority projects in support of key drivers including the SOM Forward Together Strategic Plan, SOM IT Strategic Plan, system-wide initiatives such as Carolina Value, Portfolio Prioritization Criteria, and Regulatory Compliance (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA, FISMA). Typically, projects are executed within the organizational verticals of Medical Education, Medical Research, and Administration.
Standardized tools, templates, and guidelines enable reliable project delivery and ensure the appropriate level of coordination, planning, and oversight based on the size and complexity of each project.

The intent of the training is to improve the collaboration and empathetic communication skills of medical professionals.The training content will be incorporated into the medical curriculum as part of the surgery clerkship.
