    Featured Resident: Daniel Song

    Daniel Song, MD, majored in chemistry, biochemistry and music at the University of Virginia. Dr. Song has examined the use of music to explore death and dying. He has also reviewed literature supporting music’s impact on healthcare and medical education. In his free time, you guessed it, Dr. Song enjoys playing the cello and piano, as well as photography, and weightlifting.

    Featured Resident: Emma Healy, MD

    Emma Healy, MD, is from New Hampshire and attended Columbia University for medical school. She has interest in  narrative and humanism in medicine activities. Dr. Healy has hiked Nüümü Poyo (the JMT) and the northern half of the Appalachian Trail.

    Alicia Muratore, MD, MBA, is a fellow in the UNC Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology. She is interested in general gastroenterology, a broad spectrum of gastrointestinal diseases, medical education and quality improvement.     Featured Resident: Nonye Onokalah

    Nonye Onokalah, MD, is originally from Raleigh and attended the University of Virginia for college where she majored in Psychology. In her free time she is an amateur barista, part time botanist, digital artist, and baker.

  • Featured Resident: Ben Eavenson, MD

    Ben Eavenson, MD, is originally from Georgia. After graduating from Emmanuel College, Ben worked as a full time EMT and also served as a volunteer firefighter. He enjoys being outdoors, cycling, and running and has completed 3 ironman races!

  • Featured Resident: Carrie Diamond, MD

    Carrie Diamond, MD, attended Princeton University. There she majored in Spanish and Portuguese and minored in neuroscience and Latin American studies, all while also playing on the varsity Field Hockey team! 

  • Featured Resident: Dr. Nimit Gandhi

    Dr. Gandhi is originally from Arkansas and attended the University of Arkansas for college where he majored in biochemistry and Spanish. He used his Spanish speaking skills to serve as an interpreter with a student clinic. Dr. Gandhi is interested in Hematology/Oncology and is excited to be coming to North Carolina to join his girlfriend who works in banking in Charlotte.

    Pedro Escobar, MD, came to the United States from Mexico at the age of 7. After growing up in Georgia, he worked as a nurse before deciding to attend medical school. Pedro is also a proud dad of three children all under the age of 10.

  • Justin McCallen, MD

    Featured Resident: Justin McCallen

    Justin McCallen, MD, worked as an HIV counselor in Durham before attending medical school. He also spent a year at the NIH where he found his passion for research and hopes to purse a career in GI Medicine. Justin enjoys listing to podcasts, skiing and playing Settlers of Catan.

  • Pat Duggan, MD

    Featured Resident: Patrick Duggan

    Patrick Duggan, MD, joined the UNC IM Residency Program from the Mayo Clinic where he work with a student run, free clinic. There he served primarily patients who were undocumented in western Minnesota. Dr. Duggan is interested in pursuing a career in general medicine. Outside of medicine, he enjoys cooking and baking, basketball, lacrosse, and the Buffalo Bills.

  • Featured Resident: Mathew Sebastian

    Mathew Sebastian, MD, PhD, joined the UNC IM Residency Program after  studying the role of Pglyrp3 in regulation of Breast Cancer metastases at the University of Florida. His ultimate goal it to work as a physician-scientist in the field of Oncology. Mat also enjoys running, cooking. 

  • Featured Resident: Lynnee Vaught

    A North Carolina native, Lynnee Vaught, MD, earned her undergraduate degree and completed medical school in the state before joining the UNC Internal Medicine Residency Program. She was previously captain of Wake Forest University’s Dance Team and a professional cheerleader for the Carolina Panthers.
