On November 27th, Yuechen Qiu (Scherrer and Hantman Labs) successfully defended and passed her oral qualifying exam! The title of her research proposal is, “Leveraging cortical motor circuits to elucidate opioid mechanisms of neuromodulation”. Congratulations Yuechen!!

On September 14th, Preston Siegler (Dudek Lab) successfully defended and passed her oral qualifying exam! The title of her research proposal is, “The Role of Corticosterone in Hippocampal Area CA2 Development and Activity”. Congratulations Preston!!

On September 5th, Joseph Krzeski (Philpot Lab) successfully defended and passed his oral qualifying exam! The title of his research proposal is, “The role of UBE3A isoforms and their respective substrates in Angelman syndrome-associated seizures”. Congratulations Joe!!

On September 1st, Carli Opland successfully defended her PhD Thesis: “Investigating tau mediated toxicity in Alzheimer’s disease and the protein complex responsible for tau cleavage”. Mentor: Dr. Todd Cohen.  Carli will continue her research as a post-doc in the Cohen lab. Congratulations Dr. Opland!!

On May 5th, Sarah Magee (Herman Lab) successfully defended and passed her oral qualifying exam! The title of her research proposal is, “Exploring the Impact of Psilocin on CeA CRF1 Neuronal Activity Following Chronic EtOH Drinking and Withdrawal”. Congratulations Sarah!!

Preston Siegler was selected as a Neuroscience Scholars Program (NSP) Fellow.  The NSP provides neuroscience trainees from underrepresented and diverse backgrounds with career development and networking opportunities to help them toward future success.  Congratulations Preston!!

On April 28th, ManHua Zhu successfully defended her PhD Thesis: “Cellular and behavioral effects of nicotine vapor exposure on mouse mesolimbic reward circuitry”. Mentor: Dr. Melissa Herman.  ManHua will be continuing her research as a post-doc at Northwestern University-Feinberg School of Medicine. Congratulations Dr. Zhu!!

Reagan Bullins received an Honorable Mention from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP), for her research in the Neuroscience Curriculum.  Congratulations Reagan!!
