Biography
I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2013 with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and minor in Biology. Prior to joining the Neurobiology Curriculum, I worked in Gabriel Dichter’s and Flavio Fröhlich’s lab. In my spare time I enjoy playing guitar, hiking, and exploring the world (when time permits).
Research
I plan to continue my work in the Fröhlich lab focusing on exploring the neural underpinnings of visual attention and discrimination. Such higher order visual processing is critical for cognitive function and has been shown to be impaired in neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia and autism. Using integrated electrophysiology, optogenetics, and imaging (calcium and MR imaging) techniques, my aim is to provide a better understanding of how different brain wiring and activity patterns give rise to typical and atypical behavior.
