Biography
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2012. During my studies I completed two years of undergraduate research investigating mechanisms of physiological trade-offs between reproduction and longevity. Also during that time I completed a four-year research and development internship at the medical device company Medtronic. Between graduating and starting at UNC in the fall of 2013 I worked as a lab technician at a local start up company in my hometown, and travelled as much as possible. Now I have happily found my home in the Neurobiology Curriculum and in the lab of Dr. Timothy Gershon.
Research
My research focuses on elucidating the cross-over between cellular mechanisms of cerebellar development and medulloblastoma (the most common malignant pediatric brain tumor) in hopes of revealing novel therapeutic targets for treatment.
