Dr. Brent Asrican, Research Assistant Professor and recipient of Junior Faculty Development Award

Congratulations to Brent Asrican, Research Assistant Professor in the Song Lab, for receiving a prestigious Junior Faculty Development Award! The award, which he was notified of this week, will provide support to Brent’s research in 2017.

Brent proposes to use electrophysiology, optogenetics and chemogenetics to determine how neuropeptides, such as CCK, interact with neuronal circuits in the regulation of adult hippocampal neurogenesis. He hopes that by understanding the mechanisms by which complex systems control new neuron production, he can discover new avenues to intervene in pathologies that underlie neurodegenerative disorders.
