Pharmacology held it’s 2022 Annual Awards Ceremony & holiday dinner December 9 at the Carolina Club in the Alumni Center.

Student and Postdoc Scholar Awards
Our Pharmacology Scholar Awards recognize meritorious contributions by PhD and MD/PhD Students as well as Postdocs for the betterment of our department, emphasizing research accomplishments as well as efforts in outreach, leadership, and event participation. Some examples of this are tutoring, mentoring, and volunteering at events to help promote the Department. The Student Scholar Award winners were Peyton Sandroni and Jon DeLiberty. The Postdoc Scholar Award winner was Jackson Trotman.
Student Outreach Awards
First awarded in 2019, the Service and Outreach Award was started to recognize exceptional contributions to our community, both within and outside UNC, by members of Pharmacology through service or outreach activities. The winners of the Student Outreach Awards were Meagan Colie and Devin Effinger.
Thomas Collum Butler Award
The Thomas Collum Butler Award recognizes the outstanding work of a PhD or MD/PhD PHCO Graduate Student currently working in a core or joint PHCO lab. Selection is on the basis of merit. The winner of the Thomas Collum Butler Award was Kaeli Welsh.
Chair’s Award
The Chair Award was created by our Chair, Henrik Dohlman, as a way to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of a person in our PHCO community. The winner of the Chair’s Award was Michael Sturdivant.
Staff Excellence Awards
Staff Excellence Awards recognize individuals whose performance goes above and beyond his/her regular duties to make our Community the special place it is, and who have demonstrated excellence in the following areas: creativity, innovation, enthusiasm, flexibility, leadership, positive attitude, productivity, and teamwork. The winner of the Research Staff Excellence Award was Sandra Hufeisen. The winners of the Admin Staff Excellence Award were Patty Holloway and Alfred Dolge.

In addition to the awards, there were door prizes, lots of good food and good cheer, beautiful holiday decorations and also a visit from Santa for the kids!
