Jude Samulski Elected Vice President of American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT) in 2009

Dr. Jude Samulski, a Professor of Pharmacology and Director of the UNC Gene Therapy Center was recently elected Vice President of the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy. Being elected Vice President represents the first year of a three year process to become President of the Society. He will begin serving as President-Elect in 2010. In 2011 Dr. Samulski will assume the duties of the President of the Society.
As the new Vice President, Dr. Samulski serves as a member of the Finance Committe and the Board of Directors, is in charge of the society’s website, and assists in the implementation of programs and initiatives undertaken by the Society.
As President-Elect, Dr. Samulski will assist the ASGCT President in the implementation of programs and initiatives undertaken by the President, the Board of Directors and the Society. In addition he will appoint committee members to ASGCT committees, serve on the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors, attend all meetings and assist in presiding over meetings when asked.
Upon assuming the duties of the President in 2011, Dr. Samulski will preside as Chairman over all committees and their respective meetings and he will have primary control over the scientific content of the ASGCT Annual Meetings.
