Scott Slattery and Janet Doolittle receive awards.
Two Hahn lab members have received Fellowship awards from the American Heart Association.
Scott Slattery, Ph.D., has received an American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellowship. Scott is currently studying crosstalk between Rho family pathways by developing means to simultaneously activate and visualize multiple proteins within the same living cell. Before joining the Hahn lab, he received his Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Baylor College of Medicine in 2010, where he studied the role of Aurora C. Kinase in mitosis under Drs. Bill Brinkley and Mike Mancini.
Janet Doolittle, a graduate student, is the recipient of an American Heart Association Mid-Atlantic Affiliate Winter 2012 Predoctoral Fellowship. Janet is working on a model of Rap-induced cell proliferation together with Tim Elston and Shawn Gomez. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Ohio State University in 2008, and joined the Hahn lab in 2010.
Update: Janet has received both her Ph.D. and a second fellowship award, this one a postdoctoral fellowship from the NextGen Oral Health program at UNC. Since she has graduated, Janet will accept the postdoctoral fellowship award instead of the American Heart Assn. predoctoral award. She will be studying viral pathogenesis as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Webster-Cyriaque.
