Dr. Harvey Lineberry serves as the Associate Dean for Human Resources in the School of Medicine. The UNC School of Medicine Human Resources Office is responsible for personnel functions for over 1,450 faculty and non-faculty employees, 2,700 permanent and temporary staff, and 1,000 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The office also is responsible for providing a high level of customer service to UNC School of Medicine departments, centers, and institutes in order to maximize the opportunities to recruit, develop, and retain highly qualified personnel and to otherwise enhance the UNC School of Medicine employee experience.
Prior to joining UNC-Chapel Hill, Dr. Lineberry served as the Assistant Dean for Personnel in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University for ten years. Prior to NC State, he was Assistant Director of Human Resources for Wake Forest University. In addition, Dr. Lineberry also served as an original member of an 18-state consortium of land-grant institutions comprising the “Change Agent States Project,” the goal of which was to foster systemic change in regard to diversity and inclusion in the land-grant system. He is committed to the work of diversity and the processes necessary to understand our own sense of responsibility to the organizational change process around diversity and inclusion. To that end, he continues to serve as a facilitator in “Opening Doors,” a three-day experiential workshop focused on personal work through which to create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Dr. Lineberry also holds certification through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and is a Certified Public Manager (CPM).
