Why Otolaryngology?

I was introduced to otolaryngology through my PhD work on vestibular/balance function in children and my brother-in-law’s story of having a trach from age 8-months to 18-years. I was fascinated both by the dramatic improvements in quality-of-life people receive from ENT interventions as well as the possibility of establishing long-term patient-doctor relationships. I’m thrilled to join the field and research how to better manage patients with balance and dizziness issues both clinically and surgically.

Fun Fact: As punishment for my last place finish in my fantasy football league I had to eat a ghost pepper. I prepared for it by training myself to eat habaneros and now have an unhealthy obsession with spicy food.
